‘Jeopardy!’ Contestants Mistake Janet Jackson for Ariana Grande; Chaka Khan for Shaka Zulu

Jeopardy!
Janet Jackson, Alwin Hui on “Jeopardy!” – April 29, 2020 episode

*Two separate answers on Wednesday’s (April 29) episode of “Jeopardy!” have gone viral this week. First, a contestant named Sarah Jett Rayburn mistook Chaka Khan for Shaka Zulu. The category was literally called “Zulus.” The answer was: A warrior leader that Zulus celebrate every September. Rayburn confidently buzzed in and said: “Who is Chaka Khan?”

In the same episode, a contestant mistook Janet Jackson for Ariana Grande, even after performance footage of Jackson was shown. Alwin Hui selected the Billboard Music Awards category for $800. The answer was: “As the recipient of the 2018 Icon Award, she took ‘Control’ and took to the stage in her first live TV performance in nearly a decade.” A 10-second clip of Jackson performing her 1986 hit “Nasty” at the awards show followed. Hui, a consultant from Washington, D.C., buzzed in first and guessed, “Who is Ariana Grande?” The world immediately took to social media en masse to scratch its head.
