*Hours after Rolling Stone unveiled the cover for its second annual Women Shaping the Future issue featuring SZA, the singer took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce that she’s breaking up with the media.
“Not doing any videos Interviews or photos for the rest of my life,” SZA wrote. “Lol don’t ask.”
She didn’t explain what led to the decision, but fans concluded that she’s unhappy with her dominatrix-themed Rolling Stone cover, on which she appears alongside Megan Thee Stallion and Normani, both of whom promoted the issue on their respective Instagrams. At the time of this post, SZA had not shared the cover on any of her social media accounts.

SZA went on to speak about her ongoing battle with anxiety. When one fan questioned why mental health issues are plaguing some many “new celebs,” like SZA and Summer Walker, “The Weekend” singer fired back with: “Lmao new ? “Celebs” been out here dying of addiction and depression for DECADES . Be glad Ppl are TALKING to eachother and sharing rather than hiding. Also errbody dying on tv an the government broke the 4th wall ..pretty sure everyone’s fed up rn lol.”

Critics of the cover have plenty to say in the comments of Rolling Stone’s post on Twitter, with one user writing:
“I don’t know about you but I am repulsed seeing stuff like this. I can’t tolerate it anymore. The #womenshapingthefuture should not be sexualized expressions of womanhood. Specially wrong when it is being done during #BlackHistoryMonth. Black women are Queens not sex objects.”
But some fans feel the representation is long overdue.
“Thank you for this beautiful cover and gorgeous representation of black women in music. I will be picking up a copy not only to read but also because I want my daughter to see more magazines at home that have covers with women who look like her,” wrote one user.

She may not have shared the cover on her social media accounts, but SZA made time to show love to her cover co-stars, Meg and Normani, writing: “S/o Normani and meg tho . My sisters who I love very much and respect deeply . Honored to be apart of ANYTHING w the two of those BLACK QUEENS.”
