THE REAL Welcomes Lisa Edelstein and Guest Co-Host Amanda Seales!

*On Thursday, Oct. 24, The Real welcomes back guest host recording artist, actress, comedian and author, Amanda Seales!

Today is co-host Adrienne Houghton’s birthday!  In honor of the special occasion, each of the ladies gives a touching toast to their beloved “Munchkin” and surprise her with a video message from Adrienne’s favorite fashion icon, Sarah Jessica Parker!

Then, Amanda hilariously recounts a recent incident at the airport when her carry-on bag was flagged at security because of a sex toy packed inside. She goes onto explain how she “flipped the awkward” with the unlucky TSA agent who was assigned to do the search and then went about her trip with her dignity unscathed.

Also, co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley admits that she and her sister Tia told a lie about their talents that helped them land their very first acting job in LA.

Later, actor Lisa Edelstein drops by to chat about the second season of The Kominsky Method, her fondness for spending time in the emergency room with her physician father when she was growing up, and why she was insulted by being a clue on Jeopardy.

How Amanda Flipped an Awkward Moment at a TSA Checkpoint.

Amanda Seales: I travel- I’m on the road quite a bit and it’s lonely on the road. Okay?

Loni Love: Yeah.

Amanda: It’s lonely. So, sometimes you have to bring things along with you, uh, that can ease your loneliness.  For some people, it’s a teddy bear, ya know. Others, it’s a dog. For others, like myself, it’s a vibrator.

(The Real audience applauds)

Adrienne Houghton: That’s very Sex in the City right there. I’m just putting it out there. There’s like a theme going on here.

Tamera Mowry-Housley: Wait… uh… which, which, which kind?

(The Real audience laughs)

Loni: Tamera!

Tamera: What?! I just wanna know!

Amanda: It’s a small- it’s a small compact sex toy that is effective. It’s effective.

Tamera: Okay! Okay.

Amanda: And so, I was going through TSA and they basically scanned my bag and targeted my bag as one that needed to be checked. I was like, “Oh. Uh oh!”

Adrienne: The one you gotta open and take everything out.

Amanda: And I knew- and I knew ‘cause I put it somewhere I don’t usually put it. And I was like, “Yack, kack, kack. This is gonna go left.” And then of course- it was a man, of course, who ends up looking through the bag. And I look on the screen, I’m like, “ Yo.” They have the circle around where mama is at.

(The Real audience laughs)

Amanda:And so, in that moment you’re like, what’s gonna happen here? ‘Cause I don’t wanna take this ‘L’. And I was like, “Damn, I gotta sacrifice you, my man.” And I was like. “What’s about to happen is that you about to open that bag and there’s gonna be a sex toy in that bag. Are you ready for that?”

Loni: You just told him.

Amanda: I just told him. I had to flip the awkward. ‘Cause now I’m not awkward no more ‘cause I made him awkward.

(The Real audience applauds)

Amanda: I’m not uncomfortable! You’re uncomfortable!

Tamera: Flipping the awkward!

Amanda: So, he was literally like, “Uh, Uh.” I said… “You got a glove?”

(The Real audience laughs)

Amanda: He gave me my bag back and I went on my way.
