Ringside Update/ Pacquiao vs Broner From Light to Darkness

*There’s a lot to be said about these two guys (Manny Pacquiao/Adrian Broner) who came into this desert town to settle a big score. They both have had very interesting and sometimes controversial moments in their respective careers. Manny Pacquiao on one hand has fought some of the very best fighters throughout his boxing experience and has garnered titles in eight different weight divisions.

In his much heralded fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr., he suffered a devastating lost due to a shoulder injury. And he is surely qualified to be eligible for the Boxing Hall of Fame some day. The most unique characteristic about Manny is the fact that he has self discipline and is well mannered in the ring and out.

This writer as long as I’ve known him, has never uttered one word of profanity and that says a lot about a man. And what’s most important is the fact that he’s a God fearing man who has now become Senator Manny Pacquiao in the government of the Phillipines and is fighting a different kind of fight outside the ring attempting to improve the conditions of the common folk there.

Adrien Broner however, is quite a contrast to Manny. He’s had a reputation throughout his career as this brash loud mouth showoff who is known for his flash and flambouyant style always having his hair brushed in the ring, wearing flashy outfits, gold jewelry, and always talking trash. There are those who say that he’s trying to be like Floyd in the way that he used to come in the ring wearing mink robes and fancy glittered trunks. But there’s a big difference between him and Floyd and that is that Mayweather was always been the of type of guy that would always be polite and well mannered and would always let his fists do the talking in the ring.

And I’m quite sure that no one will forget how he behaved at the post fight press conference this past Saturday night cussing and fussing about how he really won the fight even though it was obvious to all three judges and the sellout crowd of some 13,000 plus in attendance that Manny Pacquiao unanimously won the fight after this one went the distance of twelve rounds.

And after hearing Broner tell everyone present that “Ya’ll got me F…ed up, and saying it in front of his mother, wife and siblings, you have to say to yourself that this young man needs some prayer and has at some point start walking in the light. But as I always say, we’ll see what happens.

Folks I got to tell you something, it was the semi main event fight between Badou Jack vs Marcus Browne that had everyone on the edge of their seats for the full distance of twelve rounds that will probably go down in boxing history. These two guys were fighting like cats and dogs and this really turned out to be a very grueling especially after they clashed heads in the seventh and Jack suffered a terrible cut on his forehead right in the middle of his eyes. And as the fight progressed Browne who was leading on points, began to target that cut more and eventually the cut became bloody worse.

These two were fighting for the vacant WBA Interim light heavyweight title and at the end of twelve, Browne was declared the winner and new champion, but boy was it ugly. The sent Jack straight to the hospital to get stitched up, and as of the printing of this story, he’s doing a lot better.

Stay tuned as Kieth “One Time” Thurman gets back in the ring this coming weekend against Josesito Lopez at the Barclays in Brooklyn, New York.
