*There’s reportedly a royal rift between Prince William and Prince Harry that may be more alarming than previously suspected.
A new report says the British royal family want Harry and his wife Meghan Markle to take an extended stay overseas in order to ensure that William and wife Kate Middleton absorb all of the spotlight.
There seems to be concern that Markle’s popularity could become “bigger than [Princess] Diana,” Page Six reports.
“There have been various ideas floated for them to take on a job abroad, such as governor-general of Australia or Canada, wherever,” a palace source told The Sunday Times of London.
Sending the couple to Canada surely won’t ease worried minds because Meghan spent seven years in the country as a working actress and such a move would put the couple too close to the U.S. and endless tabloid coverage, according to the story. Shipping Harry to Australia has also been squashed.

“The trouble is that you effectively set them up as king and queen of a whole separate country,” according to one source.
“And 24-hour media means that Australia is not as far away as it used to be.”
Africa is also being considered, as Harry set up a charity in 2006 in Botswana, which he refers to as his “second home.”
“In some ways it would suit William to get his brother out of the country for a few years and Meghan as far away as possible,” said a friend of the brothers.
One royal insider claims the couple believe they have already received exile treatment with their move from Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage.
“Meghan and Harry feel they have been cut adrift,” said the source.
“There are discussions in palace circles about how do we harness Harry and Meghan and this tremendous global attention they get. How do we draw them back, because laying down the law and ticking them off doesn’t work at all,” the ally said.
“It’s a bit sad really,” said someone who knows both princes, the report states. “The wives don’t get on. The brothers have fallen out.”
“People are telling William, ‘Don’t worry. Your influence will grow and Harry’s will fade,’ ” a source said. “This is peak Harry.”
Meanwhile, Prince William and Prince Harry were both in attendance during the family’s Sunday’s Easter service, but the brothers kept their distance, PEOPLE reports.
