LA Prayer Vigil/Press Conference Set TODAY for Jousha Brown (Murdered Key Witness in Botham Jean Trial)

*Najee Ali CEO of Project Islamic Hope a leading South L.A civil organization, and a coalition of South Los Angeles civil rights groups, will hold a Sunday afternoon prayer vigil and call for a federal and state investigation into the murder of Jousha Brown, the man who was a key witness in the murder trial of former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger.

Brown was fatally shot Friday in the parking lot of his apartment complex, according to attorney Lee Merritt.

Brown was a neighbor of shooting victim Botham Jean at the South Side Flats apartments. Jean was sitting in his unit in September 2018 when Guyger walked inside and shot him to death. Brown says he lived directly across the hall from Jean.

“Our coalition of civil rights leaders are calling for a state and federal investigation into the murder of Brown. He was shot in the chest and mouth as a clear message into what happens when you testify against a police officer. Our coalition calls for all activists and potential witnesses of police murder and abuse of innocent civilians to not be intimidated,” stated Ali and Pastor William Smart of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
