*On Friday, Jeannie Mai was named the 2019 Pioneer Woman of the Year at Los Angeles City Hall for her fight against sex trafficking.
As reported by thejasminebrand.com, Councilwoman Nury Martinez of L.A.’s 6th District awarded “The Real” co-host with the honor. The daytime talker even showed her some love on Instagram.
“Our girl Jeannie Mai is being honored today at Los Angeles City Hall as the 2019 Pioneer Woman of the Year for her tireless work to stop human trafficking! We are so proud!! A big congrats, HUNNAAAYYYY!”

Mai has long fought against sex trafficking, and even served as an executive producer on the documentary, “Stopping Traffic.”
Here’s what she said about the film on “The Real” after the premiere last year.
“I think the part that was emotional you guys is that we all stood together for freedom. That was the thing I saw when I laid my head in bed.”

She explained how 46 million people are involved in modern-day slavery, and the film included male and female stories, such as a former trafficker’s confessional. She added that she worked with monks from the Sediathan Church to help the story. She even said despite her anxiety, she had to step out of her comfort zone and ask for help and “believe that people want to be a part of a greater change.”
