*Houston Rockets superstar forward James Harden is of course also known as “The Beard” … for obvious reasons. But did you know he’s kinda scared of the beard? In an interview with GQ, he admitted that he doesn’t eat in front of people he’s not comfortable around because he’s afraid of getting food stuck in his beard.
“I get food in this sh-t all the time,” Harden said. “Like, all the time. If it’s people that I don’t know, I won’t eat around ’em. When I’m, like, going on blind dates, I’ll wait till I get around people I actually am comfortable around, because then they’ll tell me I have stuff in my beard. It kinda comes with it. If you wanna look as good as I do.”
Well, at least he’s being honest … and hilarious about the situation.
Oh, did we also mention that Harden is pretty much a shoo-in to be named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player his performance this season.
Harden, 28, averaged a career-high 30.4 points with 8.8 assists this year and also helped lead the Rockets to the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference with the league’s best record of 65-17.
The Rockets will face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round as Houston looks to win its first NBA title since 1995.

*If you haven’t heard, here’s the latest regarding Colin Kaepernick. After setting up a work out for the unemployed QB, Seattle Seahawks officials postponed said work out when Kap declined to say he would stop kneeling during the national anthem next season, a league source informed ESPN on Thursday.
Seattle still is considering bringing in Kaepernick for a tryout, and no decisions are final, the source also added.
According to the 4 letter network’s report, the Seahawks had contacted Kaepernick about two weeks ago to arrange a visit to the team’s headquarters, but after tentative arrangements were made and travel was planned, the trip was unexpectedly scuttled due to the Seahawks’ last-minute stipulation regarding Kaepernick’s anthem stance, the source divulged.
The source said the Seahawks wanted to know that Kaepernick wouldn’t kneel this season, and he was unwilling to give that assurance to them.
Needless to say, and barring a miracle, by not saying if he will stop kneeling, Kaepernick is pretty much guaranteeing he won’t be employed any NFL team. Hopefully we’re wrong about that assessment.
