*The suspense is over and a potential political slight has been averted between the U.S. and Great Britain.

Barack and Michelle Obama will not make the trip to Windsor Castle for the May 19th wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle…and neither will the Trumps.

A White House official confirmed to CNN that current President and First Lady Melania Trump were not invited. CNN reported such was also the case for British Prime Minister Theresa May, citing Downing Street.

Meanwhile, a palace source told NBC News “President and Mrs. Obama will not be attending the wedding, but the couples look forward to seeing each other in the near future.”

“It has been decided that an official list of political leaders—both UK and international—is not required for Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s wedding,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson said. “Her Majesty’s Government was consulted on this decision, which was taken by The Royal Household.”

Back in December, there were reports that British officials were concerned about Trump’s feelings being hurt if the Obamas were invited and he was snubbed.

The Sun reported at the time:

There are deep fears among senior Foreign Office and No10 officials that another perceived national snub will make it impossible for Theresa May to meaningfully engage with Trump.

A senior government source said: “Harry has made it clear he wants the Obamas at the wedding, so it’s causing a lot of nervousness.

“Trump could react very badly if the Obamas get to a Royal wedding before he has had a chance to meet the Queen.
