*Vogue Italia has come under fire again for the way it has featured Gigi Hadid on the cover.
Snapped by star photographer Steven Klein, the latest issue shows Hadid in the arms of male model Justin Martin. But setting off her sequined Dolce and Gabbana jumpsuit is skin that is noticeably several shades darker than her usual skin tone.
After sharing the cover on Instagram, Hadid’s comment section blew up with folks calling foul on Vogue Italia and accusing them of digitally darkening Hadid’s skin.
“Why hire a black model when we can paint Gigi’s complete body and face to look like one,” said one commenter.
Another Hadid fan was more blunt: “I love you but wtf is this mess.”
It’s not the first time Vogue Italia and Hadid have been accused of using “blackface” on a magazine cover.
A November 2015 shoot with legend Steven Meisel — dubbed “The power of personality” — showed Hadid sporting a noticeably darker skin tone while wearing various Afro wigs.
