Jeannie Mai: Someone’s culture is never ok to be your costume! Does that make sense? Ever!

[The Real audience applauds]

Jeannie: And Megyn Kelly, I know you apologized, I hear you, but the thing is, if you brand yourself a reporter, I think it’s really important that you stay educated about the issues that are happening today, like what happened to Paula Deen, what happened to Julianne Hough…

Tamera Mowry-Housley: Yeah.

Jeannie: Did that just go over your head? But that made me realize that today, there are still people that refer to me as “oriental” and think it’s ok.

Tamera: Yeah.

Jeannie: So, here’s the thing…

Adrienne Houghton: Clarify, because some people still don’t understand.

Jeannie: Cultures in society are still shifting, and I talk a lot about moral duty here at this table. It is our moral duty right now to educate ourselves on racist archetypes.

[The Real audience applauds]

Jeannie: We have to all learn! It can’t be ok! Because here’s the thing – it’s not ok anymore to say, “I didn’t know.” You can’t just say that anymore, ever. And then I think about the people at that table!

Tamera: Why didn’t anybody say anything?

Jeannie: Did anybody hear something there, to be like, “Yo, girl! No! That’s not ok!”

Loni Love: Melissa Rivers kind of was – she was telling her that it wasn’t proper. This is my thing: she said it, and she was real defiant when she said it. But when she got back to the office, it was somebody in that office, she had to look in they face, it was Jamal The Intern –

[The Real audience laughs and applauds]

Loni:  – probably, that was like, “Nah, dawg, that ain’t right, all right?”
