*Tyrese Gibson was unsuccessful in his attempt to legally stop the mother of his daughter from taking her on an overseas vacation.
Norma Gibson filed an emergency petition on Tuesday, seeking permission to take 10-year-old Shayla overseas to Israel.
The “Fate of the Furious” star’s lawyers objected to her request, citing security concerns, and the judge initially sided with Gibson, ordering Norma to turn over Shayla’s passport.
However, according to The Blast, Norma appealed the decision and on Thursday, the ruling was reversed.
The judge reportedly agreed to let Los Angeles resident Norma travel with Shayla overseas during her court-allotted visitation time, but determined that she has to surrender Shayla’s passport to the court upon their return.
The court official also urged the two parties to try and resolve a disagreement about their summer visitation schedule amongst themselves.
Tyrese and Norma have been battling it out in court since last year, after she accused him of spanking their child so severely she couldn’t sit down. During the legal spat, Tyrese was prevented from seeing Shayla.
He was finally awarded 50/50 custody and the actor is now seeking primary custody, so he can raise Shayla in Atlanta, Georgia with her baby sister, who is due in September.
