Mathew Knowles Claims ‘An Absolute Lie’ About Beyonce Cost Him a $175M Deal

*Mathew Knowles says former lawyers are to blame for causing him to lose out on a $175 million dollar deal after lies were spread about him selling off Beyoncé memorabilia.

Knowles was sued last year by his former lawyers, Lang Ferrer PLLC, accusing him of refusing to pay $50,000 for services rendered. They claim the music manager held a silent auction during the 2017 Super Bowl weekend, where he sold off Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child memorabilia.

The lawyers claim Knowles cleverly hid the money he pulled in from the auction to avoid paying back creditors, including his lawyers. And of course, he denied all the allegations and counter-sued the law firm for defamation.

Knowles said the auction he held was for athletic and sports items and claimed the statements about him hawking Beyoncé items were repeatedly circulated and talked about in the press. So he filed a lawsuit seeking $2 million in damages.

According to The Blast, on February 21, Knowles filed new docs in the case accusing his former lawyers of having – prior to the lawsuit – threatening to make things “ugly for him” if he did not pay what Knowles called “excessive and unreasonable” legal invoices.

He says due to his refusal to pay up, they spread “an absolute lie” to the press that he conducted an auction in which he supposedly sold his famous daughter’s memorabilia. As a result, Knowles claims his company, Music World, lost out on lucrative deals, including one with Port Royal Resort worth $175 million.

Additionally, Knowles says Texas Southern University cited the auction as one of the reasons why he could not be conferred a tenured professorship. He claims he lost out on a deal to license a music catalog of more than 3,000 songs.

Knowles is demanding his lawsuit continue on and is asking the court not to dismiss the counter-suit.
