*Snapchat has pulled an ad that ran on the app asking users if they would rather “slap Rihanna” or “punch Chris Brown.”

The ad, for a game called “Would You Rather,” referenced to Brown’s 2009 assault on Rihanna that left her face swollen and bruised, according to a leaked police photo.

“This means Snapchat approved an ad that makes light of domestic violence,” activist Brittany Packnett tweeted in response to the ad, seen below.

In a statement issued to the BBC, Snapchat apologized for letting the ad slip through their review process.

“The ad was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware,” the company wrote. “We are sorry that this happened.”

The apology comes on the heels of Snapchat’s new update that puts more ads and paid content in feeds, which most Snapchat users already hate.

You probably won’t be surprised to learn that the ad upset Twitter users including former first daughter, Chelsea Clinton, who called it “awful.”
