*Philadelphia social justice leaders and students from various local universities will convene next week to discuss Meek Mill’s current legal troubles and the criminal justice system overall.
Titled REFORM: Bringing Injustice to Light, the city-wide panel will take place at Philadelphia’s Irvine Auditorium on March 13 at 4 p.m. with student-led organizations from the University of Pennsylvania (Beyond Arrests: Re-Think Systematic-Oppression, Philadelphia Bail Fund), Temple University (Temple Association of Black Journalists, Hosting Our Own Talks) and Drexel University (NAACP Drexel Chapter, Entertainment and Arts Society), reports Billboard.
The panel will include guests Rev. Al Sharpton, who visited Meek Mill at the start of his two- to four-year sentence last November, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League member Angelo Pinto, civil rights attorney David Rudofsky, University of Pennsylvania professor Marie Gottschall and more. Meek Mill’s mother and attorney, Joe Tacopina, will also be in attendance to offer an update on the rapper’s case.
Jay-Z’s TIDAL will live-stream the event worldwide.
Last November, a Philadelphia judge handed Meek Mill the two to four year sentence for violating probation stemming from a 2008 charge. Since entering prison, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Kevin Hart and more have voiced their support for the rapper.
