Forest Whitaker at Premiere of ‘The Forgiven’: ‘Love is the Key’ (EUR Exclusive – Watch!)

*Forest Whitaker stars in the “The Forgiven” as Archbishop and human rights activist Desmond Tutu who is summoned to a maximum security prison by a notorious murderer played by Eric Bana, who is seeking clemency.

EUR correspondent Jay Styles was on the scene in West Hollywood for the premiere of ‘The Forgiven’ and had a chance to speak with Jeff Gum who plays prison guard Francois Schmidt, on how this film impacted him on a personal level.

“I just feel like everyone has some good in them….everyone can look back to something that they want to be forgiven for Gum, said.” And I think this film kind of depicts wanting to make things right for certain situations in the past.”

Producer Zaheer Goodman Bhyat shared with me on what he took away from the film.

“The take away from the film is how we can be in dialogue with each other and avoid violence and find peace and forgiveness and understanding in the world.”

Forest Whitaker speaks on how “love is the key” and how “love morphs itself to find the right solution in the end.”

“We all have the capacity to be redeemed, Whitaker said. I would say that….love is the key. Like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said darkness cannot push out darkness, only light can. Hate cannot push out hate, only love can. These are things we have to remember, love is the key.”

The Forgiven will be in NYC and Los Angeles theaters on Friday March 9th.
