*The late, great Luther Vandross was given an all-star musical tribute on Tuesday at New York’s Lincoln Center thanks to former American Express CEO Kenneth I. Chenault, the third black CEO of a Fortune 500 company.

Chenault was honored as part of Lincoln Center’s first Winter Gala at Alice Tully Hall according to Page Six.

“I’m very appreciative of receiving the honor. I’m also very appreciative of one of the perks that comes along with it. Everyone may not know this, but as the evening’s honoree, [I] get to select the theme of [the gala’s] entertainment, so [this is] for all you Luther Vandross fans,” he told the crowd.

Dionne Warwick was supposed to host the event, but Holliday stepped in after Warwick canceled due to a last-minute scheduling conflict.

Patti LaBelle closed the night performing “Here and Now” before the other singers joined her onstage.

The event raised $2.6 million.
