Tax March Statement on Trump’s Tax Returns (Exposed by Rachel Maddow): ‘Not Good Enough’

*Washington, D.C. – Below is a statement released by the Tax March executive committee in response to the reporting of Donald Trump’s 2005 tax returns on The Rachel Maddow Show:

“The Rachel Maddow Show tonight reported on Donald Trump’s 1040 form from 2005 detailing his tax returns. Our response? That’s not good enough. Donald Trump still owes us his tax returns for the past 12 years, and the Tax March intends to keep pressure on Trump to release them. The White House acted awfully fast in putting out a statement slamming the press and trying to get ahead of the story, making Trump’s excuse of an “audit” even less plausible than it had been. We’ll still be there on April 15, Donald, and you still owe us your returns.” Delvone Michael, Political Strategist, The Working Families Party, and Tax March executive committee member

The Tax March isn’t an organization – it’s a movement – gaining momentum around the country. Throughout the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump told the American people he would release his tax returns and come clean about his business dealings, as presidential candidates and presidents have done for decades. Despite intense public pressure, President Donald Trump has not yet done so. In refusing to release these tax returns, he is able to hide his business dealings, financial ties, and conflicts of interest. On April 15, we’re marching on Washington, D.C., and in communities across the country, to show that the president is accountable to the American people, and we want to know what he’s hiding.
