DeVon Franklin Talks Sexual Harassment in Hollywood
Tamera Mowry- Housley: Okay so, for a person who has a close relationship with God what do you think about all these allegations that are coming out in Hollywood?
DeVon Franklin: Yeah.
Tamera: You’ve been in Hollywood for a very long time what, what are you thinking?
DeVon Franklin: Yeah. Well, what I think that it’s not regulated in Hollywood. You know unfortunately men have first of all, have to take accountability and responsibility for their actions. And public success does not mean personal success.
Tamera: Mmm. You better say that.
Adrienne Houghton: Yes!
[The Real audience applauds]
DeVon: And, too often, too often you know as men were like, “Hey I’m conquering the world.”
Jeannie Mai: Yeah.
DeVon: But haven’t taken the time to do the discipline in our private life. And I believe this is the area that we have to as men begin to say, “You know what, just because I am successful does not mean that I can use that as an excuse to abuse anyone.”
[The Real audience applauds]
Tamera: Amen!
Loni Love: Yeah! Let em know.
DeVon: And I think that is what we’re, we’re seeing and I think it’s a moment of what is done in the dark can come to light. So that as men we can get healing and as… and, and for an industry like Hollywood it’s interesting to be in a place where now this is the platform for these issues to come to light and my hope is for something positive and long lasting can come from it.
Tamera: Absolutely.
Adrienne: So good.
