*One of Donald Trump’s most staunch supporters is out at CNN.
The news channel said Thursday it has cut ties with Jeffrey Lord after he tweeted the Nazi phrase “Seig heil” to Angelo Carusone, who heads progressive watchdog group Media Matters for America. Lord said he was trying to mock what he considered the fascism of the group, but many accused Lord of Nazi sympathies.
It all started when the right wing pundit tweeted a story he had just posted on American Spectator deriding the progressive watchdog group Media Matters as “fascists.” But he misspelled the name of the group’s president, calling him Angelo “Corusone” instead of “Carusone.”
Carusone responded: “Your headline has a mistake in it. Why do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you don’t take yourself seriously.”
Lord’s two-word response? “Sieg Heil.”
“Nazi salutes are indefensible,” CNN said in statement. “Jeffrey Lord is no longer with the network.”
