EUR Covers the 49th NAACP Image Awards Nominee Luncheon

*Another successful year is underway for the annual NAACP Image Awards as nominees and Hollywood stars gathered at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for their annual nominee luncheon.

The most impressive thing about attending these events is the amount of new faces who come right in and blend in with seasoned nominees.

EUR’s Robin Ayers was able to converse with a number of attendees and talk about the amount of respect they all have for each other’s body of work, whether newcomers or established in the industry.

When Robin asked veteran actress Loretta Devine about advice she would give to aspiring actors she responded with:

“Well, everything is so different now.  I need to ask them ‘how do I get in on this new Internet…’”

She’s right about that.  Everything is new now, but one thing that’s the same is that so many people refer to Loretta as “Auntie” or “Mama” because of her relatability, and the fact that she’s acted on screen since 1981 certainly plays a part.

Other actors such as Michael Rainey, Jr. who is nominated for an NAACP Image Award (Outstanding Performance by a Youth), and who is well known for his current role on the hit Starz series, POWER, is taking it all in stride.

“I’m calm.  I just observe everything.  I’m not very talkative.  I just be chillin’,” he says.

Accompanying Michael in this NAACP Award category is 13-year-old Marsai Martin from ABC’s Black-ish who admits she’s incredibly blessed to be a part of this award-winning show.  She demonstrated her appreciation to the crew and staff by having a masseuse come to the set and give her everyone massages.  Nice friend to have during the Christmas season!  With that great head on her shoulders, she’s surely a great friend to have all year round!

The ever so talented Comedian Lil Rel Howery and Actress Amirah Vann were the hosts of the 49th NAACP Luncheon and Lil Rel made sure to let us know that the vibe he was setting was going to be “dope”!

Watch a few of EUR’s interviews now and be sure to tune in to the NAACP Awards airing on TV ONE January 15, hosted by actor and funny man, Anthony Anderson.
