*In Washington, a 32-year-old white man stabbed an interracial couple after seeing them kiss, then, later brought up “Donald Trump rallies” to his arresting officer and mentioned a specific interest in attacking Black Lives Matter protesters should he be released from custody.
Police said the suspect, Daniel Rowe, began mouthing off as officers tried to wrestle him into the back of a patrol car. “He tells them, ‘Yeah, I stabbed them. I’m a white supremacist,’” said Lt. Paul Lower, a police department spokesman. “He begins talking about Donald Trump rallies and attacking people at the Black Lives Matter protest.”
Rowe told police he had come to Olympia, from nearby Richland, in response to anti-police graffiti that had been written over the weekend. He told investigators he knew cops “couldn’t hurt the black people on the street” and he would “continue the fight against all of the Black Lives Matter people,” according to court documents.
Rowe was found to have “extensive” white supremacist tattoos — including ones that read “skinhead,” “white power” and “hooligan,” and also the Confederate flag. Court documents seen by KOMO say Rowe “took a blood oath to fight on the street, and if he was let go tonight, he planned on heading down to the next Donald Trump rally and stomping out more of the Black Lives Matter group.”
“This has all the hallmarks of a hate crime,” Deputy Prosecutor Joseph Wheeler said at Rowe’s hearing, according to the Olympian. “This black-and-white couple was simply expressing their love for one another.”
In Thurston County Superior Court Wednesday, Judge James Dixon found probable cause for three charges: two counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and one count of malicious harassment. He set bail at $500,000.

Police responded to downtown Olympia on Tuesday night after receiving reports that a black man had been stabbed, and a white man — later identified as Rowe — was unconscious. Based on the Rowe’s white supremacist tattoos — reading “skinhead,” “white power” and “hooligan,” and featuring a Confederate flag — officers believed the altercation may have been racially motivated.
Both men were taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.
When police talked to the male stabbing victim, he said that he and his girlfriend, a white woman, had been drinking at the China Clipper. After every drink, they would go outside to smoke and make out.
While standing outside after their third drink, the male victim heard his girlfriend yell as if she were in pain. He saw Rowe standing near her, and then he felt Rowe punch him.
Rowe began running, and the male victim chased him. He tripped Rowe, who fell into a car and was knocked unconscious.
When the male victim looked down at his hip, he realized he hadn’t been punched — he had been stabbed. The female victim realized that she had also been grazed by the suspect’s knife.
The male victim said Rowe didn’t say anything to him during the attack.
Rowe’s alleged attack was the second incident in a week in which the alleged perpetrator turned out to be a Donald Trump stan.
