*RJ Cyler is steadily lining up major projects following his breakout role in 2015’s “Me and Earl and The Dying Girl.”
The young actor has just joined Ben Hardy as a topliner in the modern retelling of the Cyrano de Bergerac film, “Sierra Burgess Is A Loser,” reports Deadline.com.
The story follows a case of mistaken identity that results in unexpected romance when the most popular girl in high school and the biggest loser must come together to win over their crushes.
Cyler will play Dan, Sierra’s best friend but can’t work up the courage to tell her that he has a huge crush on her.
Ian Samuels is directing from a screenplay by Lindsey Beer.
Up next for Cyler is Saban’s Power Rangers film, which is set to hit theaters in March, as well as Showtime’s series “I’m Dying Up Here” and the Netflix Brad Pitt-starring film “War Machine.”
