*LeBron James will officially re-up with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The NBA star agreed a three-year, $100 million contract, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. The sum would make him the league’s highest-paid player for the first time in his career.
He’ll make $31 million this season. His salary reportedly will reach $33 million in 2017–18, the largest single-season amount in league history.
James remains unsigned, but he re-affirmed Thursday he would be returning to Cleveland.
After returning to Cleveland in 2014, James played the last two seasons on “one-plus-one” contracts, allowing him to opt out each summer.
James is a three-time NBA champion, three-time NBA Finals MVP, four-time MVP, 12-time All-Star and the Cavaliers’ all-time leading scorer.
