*Anticipating California’s vote later this year to legalize recreational use of marijuana, former NFL running back Ricky Williams has plans underway to open the world’s first weed-friendly gym, The Associated Press reports.
Williams is teaming with business executive Jim McAlpine to open Power Plant Fitness, which will allow people to not only smoke weed during a workout, but will also have edibles available for those who don’t like smoking. Both say that using the drug while exercising can help with focus and relaxation.
“I think a lot of people buy into the stoner stereotype where guys just sit on the couch, smoke and don’t do anything, and they’re not very motivated,” said Williams, who violated the NFL’s drug policy at least four times over smoking weed. “I found when I was playing football that using cannabis helped me relax physically, relax mentally and even spiritually.”
You’ll need to have a prescription for marijuana in order to join Power Plant Fitness, which the men plan to open sometime this year.
