Only One Republican Backs Resolution to Honor Muhammad Ali

*A House resolution introduced Tuesday to honor Muhammad Ali has the support of just one Republican.  And surprise…she just so happens to be African American.

Rep. Mia Love, the U.S. Representative from Utah’s 4th congressional district, is the lone Republican who appears among the resolution’s 42 co-sponsors as of this morning, reports TheHill.com.

Rep. G. K. Butterfield (D-N.C.), chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, introduced the measure to recognize the “extraordinary life, accomplishments, and countless contributions” of Ali, who died last week at the age of 74.

Rep. Love, born in Brooklyn, NY, was said to be a rising star in the GOP two years ago when she became the first black Republican woman ever elected to Congress.
