*Today, June 7, is the Purple One’s birthday, the first one since Prince passed away and I’m still in shock. Many are still celebrating his life and amazing legacy he left to not just R&B and Pop music, but to the entire art of music. This blog may be a little late, but it’s NEVER too late to honor royalty.
We were all attracted to him, expanding beyond race and gender. His personality and artistry could not be defined in one category. If you had the honor of being around when he was at his peak, it wasn’t out of the ordinary to hear grown men blasting the sounds of the bare-bottom, high-heel-and-eyeliner-wearing singer. His art and passion drew us in, influenced us and changed us. I, for one, was truly changed as he mesmerized the crowd at the Essence Festival some time ago. Yes, he did what he wanted his way and the world and music lovers everywhere were all converted.
His passing has me reflecting on his genius, his persona and very importantly, his softness. He was a thoughtful man of few words during interviews, never raising his tone beyond his bedroom voice. His energy, and those eyes; they said it ALL without saying a word! But then whenever he did speak, it left millions of us on the edge of our seats.
Prince’s soft power was magnetic. He had no problem embracing his feminine energy, making him irresistibly sexy to women all over the world. In my new book, I speak to the magnetism that soft power entails. Soft power can transform the energy in a relationship and positively affect those around you. From the way you walk and the tone in which you speak. When making eye contact with those around you and using your feminine energy, soft power can be your secret weapon to getting what you want.
So the next time you’re rockin’ to the hard-hitting guitar of His Purple Badness, remember his soft power. Then use yours!
