*“Get the f*ck out the whole city!,” activist PFK Boom shouted at Pastor Jamal Bryant at the 148th West Wednesday—a weekly event the City Paper reports was put together by the family of Tyrone West, a man who died in police custody in 2013. The event was held at the Tubman House, a vacant house slated for demolition located near where Freddie Gray was arrested. The event attracted many of the city’s most effective grassroots activists.
Pastor Jamal Bryant, of the People’s Empowerment, has been vocal about police brutality in Baltimore, but his activism has been met with plenty of skepticism, including by the West family, activist PFK Boom and others connected to Baltimore Bloc, including MC Shy Lady Heroin.
Boom confronted Jamal about the growing community concern that his methods ring insincere. In the clip below, shot by Baltimore Bloc, you can watch as Bryant — who recently addressed the controversies surrounding his fathering a child out-of-wedlock, and who delivers sermons with titles such as “These Hoes Ain’t Loyal — receives the verbal lashing from PFK Boom.

PFK Boom questions why Bryant has been silent about Tyrone West over the past two years, He also accuses Bryant of working for the “oppressors” such as Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, before telling him to “get the fu*k out the whole city.”

Baltimore is not the only city turning its back on Bryant. Blogger Cherese Jackson has written an Open Letter to the disgraced pastor, questioning his infidelity and fathering a child out of wedlock, and his response to his “sinful” actions. You can read the full letter here.

However, amid the controversy, you stood behind the “sacred” pulpit as arrogant as ever and preached, “I’m the Man!” Using the story of Nathan as he confronted David about Bathsheba, you seemed to justify that you are “still the man.” Interestingly, the message began in 2 Samuel verse 7, which reads:
You are that man! The Lord, the God of Israel, says: I anointed you king of Israel and saved you from the power of Saul.
What was most baffling to many within the Christian community is although the opportunity was ever-present, you did not even bother to deal with verse 13. At least, during this particular story of David, he had the decency to confess that he has sinned. This would have been the perfect opportunity to acknowledge a remorseful heart, even if you had already confessed to God, you owed it to the people you had been entrusted to lead.
