*Security Square Mall and The Baltimore Times presents the 17th annual ‘Uplifting Minds II’ entertainment conference April 16, 2016
On Saturday April 16, 2016 the “Uplifting Minds II” (ULMII) entertainment conference returns to Baltimore at Security Square Mall. Heaven 600’s Doresa Harvey and 92Q Jams’ AJ Showtime – along with DJ Fatman on the turntables – will host the national talent showcase competition. Security Square Mall and The Baltimore Times are presenting the event to the Baltimore community as its major sponsors.
Doresa Harvey, AJ Showtime and DJ Fatman are sponsors of the event as well. The three hosts are donating their time to allow ULMII to be held yet again in the community. “Uplifting Minds II,” started in 1999 and held also in Hollywood, California at the Celebrity Centre in October, will be held from 1 – 5 p.m. at the Center Court of Security Square Mall in Baltimore. The event starts with an entertainment business panel discussion and end with the national talent showcase competition where three winners will be selected for “Best Vocalist,” “Best Songwriter” and “Best Dancer” – all genres are welcome. Along with the ULMII Award, the winners received a long list of prizes donated by the events’ other sponsors.
Doresa Harvey, who is also an actress and comedian, is known as the “Mid-Day Diva” at Heaven 600 (Clear Channel) heard weekdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. She started at Clear Channel as an intern. AJ Showtime is a DJ and Radio Personality on 92Q Jams’ “Rap Attack” (Radio One) heard on Sundays at 7 p.m. AJ also serves as Radio One Baltimore’s Image Director. DJ Fatman is also an accomplished R&B/Gospel singer and a retail owner who has co-hosted the event as DJ for over 10 years. Harvey has donated her time for 15 years.
Aside from entertainment, needed information and time on the stage (if you are talent), “Uplifting Minds II” entertainment conference also provides the opportunity to network with others in the industry. Many success stories come from the free event such as when six-time Grammy Award winner SisQo of Dru Hill stopping by in Baltimore at Security Square Mall and heard competitors, The Featherstone Brothers, perform their original song and he included it on their third Dru Hill album “Dru World Order,” the song is titled “I Should Be (Your Boyfriend)”. The song was the first single released from the Dru Hill album and it was accompanied with a music video. In addition actor Ro Shon Fegan who is known for his roles in Disney’s “Shake It Up” and ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” performed at the Los Angeles ULMII, held at the L.A. Convention Center and he won. His management later told the events’ founder Eunice Moseley (www.ThePulseofEntertainment.com), that what they learned at the conference help them reach the next level.
