*Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman covers Sports Illustrated with the Legion of Boom just days before the 2015 Super Bowl.
The Legion of Boom refers to the team’s safeties and cornerbacks — including strong safety Kam Chancellor, cornerback Jeremy Lane, safety Earl Thomas III and cornerback Byron Maxell, according to YBF.
Sherman was approached to the do the cover solo, but he declined. He agreed to do the cover only if his teammates could be on it with him.
“I only want to be on there if we can all be on there. The Legion of Boom,” Sherman said about covering SI with the team by his side.
He added, “when you join a group of men and accomplish something so difficult and so rare, you no longer feel as though you have to prove things to people who haven’t proven anything to you. In most cases I have a better résumé than my detractors.”
