*Entertainment Tonight reports that pop icon Janet Jackson is putting her upcoming ‘Unbreakable World Tour’ on hold to be with her father, Joe Jackson. who suffered a stroke on his 87th birthday on Saturday (Jul 25) in Brazil.
Janet flew to Sao Paulo, Brazil on Tuesday to be with her father, who remains hospitalized. An insider tells ET that the 49-year-old singer is expected to stay with her father until his condition is stable.
On Monday, Joe took to his website to inform fans that he would ”be able to make a quick recovery and travel back home soon”.
He wrote: “To my family, friends, acquaintances and fans all over the world. I want to thank you all for your prayers, unwavering support and kind well wishes during these trying times,” he wrote. “Through God’s intervention the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and caretakers at the Albert Einstein Sao Paulo hospital have taken great care of me. God willing, I should be able to make a quick recovery and travel back home soon. Thank you all once again for your prayers and support.”
Jackson’s ‘Unbreakable World Tour’ is scheduled to start on Aug. 31 in Vancouver. Only North American dates have been announced, though additional world-wide dates are expected to be added.
Janet recently debuted the music video for “No Sleeep,” the first single from her highly anticipated comeback album.
In related news, an insightful interview with Janet from 1986 has been unearthed and published online, in which she opens up about her life, animal attraction and her famous family. When asked what childhood was like with her infamous brothers, Janet replied:
““We used to go horse-back riding and swim and play baseball and climb the fruit trees and pick the fruit off the trees and just get into trouble. Michael was the naughtiest – he was a real bad little kid and he was sassy and everyone would say ‘Oh, God, here comes Michael!’ What’s the worst thing he ever did? I think he looked up under a lady’s dress once. I think he did. I’d say that’s probably the worst that I know of. Me? I was good. I never got punished. I got hit a few times but that was all. One time I got hit for saying something I shouldn’t have said. A bad word. I shouldn’t have spoke it but I opened up my big mouth and my mother hit me for it.”
