*FOX will debut “The Boris and Nicole Show” July 6. The hour-long program, co-produced by Hollywood married couple Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker, will bring the couple’s take on everything from current events to parenting and relationships, with additional commentary provided by celebrity guests.
We chatted with the golden couple recently about their new talk show, how they keep their marriage sexy and which process they enjoy more; television or film:
“Theater,” Nicole said. “And that’s what I love about this talk show, is that the audience is right there. That first group of people that you’re going to touch is right there. I’m so excited! I gotta get used to talking into the camera, though. You know as actors you never talk in the camera. I love the theater the round feeling of a studio audience.”
When we asked what interested them in doing a talk show, Boris said:
“It’s been a long time coming. We came up with this concept about six years ago and originally we planned on doing it on radio and then a year ago we thought about it in terms of TV, we thought it was a great idea, great timing and here we are. We’re very excited”
Boris and Nicole first met as actors on the hit Showtime series “Soul Food,” and both have since established successful careers in movies and television, Broadway and their own business ventures.
Kodjoe appeared on the FOX series, “The Last Man on Earth” earlier this year. He can currently be seen in the hit BET series, “The Real Husbands of Hollywood” with Kevin Hart. Boris is also the creator of clothing company, World of ALFA.
Parker portrayed Blanche DuBois in “A Streetcar Named Desire” on Broadway and Cleopatra in “Antony & Cleopatra” at the McCarter Theatre. She co-starred in the hit TNT drama series, “Murder in the First” last summer and continues to recur opposite her husband on “The Real Husbands of Hollywood.” She started her own hair and beauty accessory company, Save Your Do, in 2012.
We asked them what they believe are the three main ingredients to keeping a marriage fresh, strong and sexy:
“Well, you have to be strong and sexy,” Boris said, eyeing his lovely wife, who added: “Well, the first three things that go: sex, communication and…”
“And sandwiches,” Boris jokingly interjects. “The food, the home cooked meals.”
We also asked the couple why they enjoy working together:
“We like hanging out together,” Boris said, with Nicole adding, “We enjoy each other’s company.”
“She makes me laugh, and I make her cry,” Boris joked.
Father’s Day recently passed, and we asked Boris why Father’s Day is important to him:
“It’s important to me because the day I became a father is the day I truly believe I became a man. It’s a symbol of my manhood and the fact that I’ve done a pretty decent job. I knew I wanted to be a father since I was kid, and I knew I wanted to be a good father, and I’m very lucky that I have kids with her.”
