*Chris “Ludacris” Bridges is teaming with Ryan Seacrest to produce a drama series set in the world of marching bands.

“The Down Beat,” from CBS Television Studios and Ryan Seacrest Productions [RSP], is described as an inspiring story of a former business mogul looking for personal retribution, who is determined to take down two warring gangs in the mean streets of Atlanta by offering possible teen recruits an unlikely refuge: a high school marching band.

Writer Paul Downs Colaizzo will pen the script and executive produce alongside RSP scripted programming executive vice president Nina Wass and Ludacris.

For the rapper, “The Down Beat” marks his latest TV project and first as an executive producer. So far, it’s unclear if he’ll star in the drama. He’s already had a guest starring turn on Fox’s “Empire” this season.

Luda’s big screen credits include the “Fast & Furious” franchise and “Hustle & Flow.”
