*Tyrese Gibson’s legal beef with Home Depot has come to an end. The Blast, citing media sources, reports the entertainer informed the court on Jan. 27, that he was dismissing all claims against the home improvement store with prejudice.
The dismissal puts a cap on the drama between Gibson and Home Depot, which started in 2023 after the “Fast and Furious” star accused a cashier with the retail chain of racially profiling him and two associates who regularly work with him on home projects. As a result, Gibson claimed discrimination, alleging he was treated poorly because they were people of color.
At the time of the incident, which occurred Feb. 11, 2023, the trio were waiting in line at the Los Angeles-based Home Depot to pay for their goods when people allegedly started to notice Gibson, The “Lately” singer claimed he left his card with his associates to complete the transaction and got the cashier’s approval before waiting in his car.
Despite the cashier’s green light, the cashier suddenly had a change of heart and refused to allow his associates to buy the items without Gibson’s identification card.
From there, Gibson and his friends filed their $1 million lawsuit against Home Depot, which denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

The retailer released a statement on the situation, via a rep who stressed that Home Depot did not tolerate discrimination and valued Gibson as a customer.
“In the months since this happened, we’ve reached out to him and his attorneys several times to try to resolve his concerns. We will continue to do so,” the statement read.
Despite voicing a desire to sort out their differences with Gibson and his associates amicably without a court battle in its initial statement, The Blast noted Home Depot switched its stance as the case went on.
In its new argument, the store claimed their security footage did not match Gibson’s version of what happened. According to Home Depot, the singer was not captured on camera talking to the cashier or getting her approval to wait in his car while his associates completed the transaction with his card.
In addition, Home Depot mentioned the lack of medical evidence backing Gibson’s claims of emotional distress and anxiety he mentioned he pointed out in his lawsuit. According to the “Baby Boy” fixture, the symptoms came after the alleged discrimination at Home Depot.

Complications further heightened in the case as Home Depot accused Gibson of being uncooperative in refusing to answer questions during a deposition and “making statements such as ‘That is none of your business.'”
The home goods giant further blasted Gibson’s handling of the situation, alleging he would answer a question with another question, engage in lengthy, nonresponsive statements on the record, and repeatedly threaten to leave.
The actor’s use of social media also played into the case, in light of Gibson attacking Home Depot co-founder Bernard “Bernie” Marcus and claiming the store’s security footage proved his narrative was false.
“The Trump supporter attempts to slander me!!!” Gibson wrote to plant seeds of doubt about Marcus’ intention amid an allegation he made that Marcus donated millions to then-Republican candidate Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
In June 2024, Gibson represented himself in the case and his associates, a strategy that proved unsuccessful. The R&B crooner reportedly missed two hearings during that time as a hearing set to decide the appropriate sanctions against him for blowing off the case loomed.
In dropping his lawsuit, Gibson avoided punishment in that development.
Transition to 2025 and Gibson and his associates are on different paths. During a hearing on Jan. 29, the court confirmed the “Waist Deep” star would not face sanctions related to the case. As for his associates, In Touch reports one of them dropped out of the case, while the other associate declared he would find a new lawyer and continue the battle against Home Depot.
