*While in Cancún, Mexico recently, Calvin Broadus – better known to the world as Snoop Dogg – expressed his affection for former President Donald Trump while simultaneously advocating for a vision of America that contrasts sharply with the current climate of division and brings to mind Kamala Harris. Isn’t that interesting?
During his appearance at the Raising Cane’s Canecún employee retreat, where he served as a guest performer, Snoop shared his intentions behind participating as a commentator at this year’s Paris Olympics.
His primary mission? To reshape global perceptions of Americans by showcasing a more united and wholesome version of the country.
“The first thing I wanted to do [at the Olympics] was represent America, but in a wholesome way—as far as, with no division [and] no separation,” Snoop stated, highlighting his desire to project positivity and joy.
Snoop’s role as a commentator garnered significant attention, not only for his charismatic presence but also for moments that went viral during the games. In a candid discussion with Cane’s CEO Todd Graves, he emphasized, “Let me be the representation of what an American is.”

However, beneath the embrace of unity lies a complexity in Snoop’s political stances. In an interview earlier this year with The Times of London, he told the newspaper he had “nothing but love and respect” for Trump. “He has done only great things for me”
Specifically, one of the great things Trump has done for him is pardoning Death Row Records co-founder Michael Harris. Keep that in mind because so far he refrained from clarifying which political faction he believes is responsible for America’s divisions. Interestingly, his recent comments have drawn parallels to themes often echoed by Vice President Kamala Harris, particularly in their focus on joy and community, notes Daily Beast writer Eboni Boykin-Patterson.
When examined, Snoop’s political journey has been anything but straightforward. He has previously endorsed various political figures, including Libertarian candidate Ron Paul and President Obama, while also expressing discontent toward Trump. In 2017, he declared himself “not a fan” of the former president, yet his narrative shifted after Harris received a presidential pardon in 2021. When asked about his voting intentions for the upcoming election, he maintained a noncommittal stance, saying, “I want to see what the people say.”
In stark contrast to Snoop’s fluctuating views, his friend Martha Stewart recently made her political endorsements clear, expressing support for candidates who align with the values of democracy and love for New York—essentially a nod toward leaders who resonate with Kamala Harris’s ideals. Despite his camaraderie with Stewart, Snoop has yet to lend his voice to similar endorsements, even if the unifying vision he articulates aligns closely with those of the Harris campaign, which bills itself as filled with “joyful warriors” amidst the negative political landscape.
Snoop concluded his reflections during the Olympic commentary by reaffirming his commitment to showcasing the positive qualities of America. He hopes that his portrayal can inspire international audiences to view the United States as a land of possibility, filled with fun and love. As he remarked, “When people who had never been [to America] before see my representation, I hope they now want to come to America.”

Ultimately, as the election quickly approaches, Snoop’s blend of admiration for Trump and his call for unity seems poised to keep him in the conversation, even as the particulars of his political allegiance remain ambiguous.
