Nicki Minaj lawsuit stems from 2019 concert incident in Germany
*If it’s a day that ends in “d-a-y,” you know that Nicki Minaj is either reacting to or causing drama. The latest is that the rapper is dealing with a lawsuit that traces back to a 2019 concert in Germany, where chaos erupted when a fan breached the stage. Security guard Thomas Weidenmüller stepped in to handle the situation, only to face backlash from Minaj and her team. He claims the rapper scolded a female guard, prompting him to defend her in front of the artist.
According to court documents, Weidenmüller was later summoned to Minaj’s dressing room, where her husband allegedly assaulted him. Kenneth “Zoo” Petty is accused of punching him in the jaw, resulting in multiple surgeries and long-term injuries. Weidenmüller also sued Minaj for emotional distress, claiming she stood by during the violent incident, reports US Magazine.

Security guard awarded $503K after default judgment in 2024
In 2022, Weidenmüller filed the Nicki Minaj lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court. Minaj and Petty reportedly ignored the case, failing to respond to official summons or court filings. By March 2024, the court issued a default judgment in Weidenmüller’s favor, awarding him $503,000.
The payout includes damages, interest, and legal fees stemming from the alleged assault. Despite multiple notices and payment requests, the couple still has not paid the amount owed. Weidenmüller’s team then moved to enforce the judgment through other legal channels.
Nicki Minaj’s $20M California home now faces forced sale
Minaj’s 11-bedroom, 16-bathroom mansion in Hidden Hills is now at the center of the legal fight. She bought the estate in December 2022 for $19.5 million, with $6 million in estimated equity. On Sept. 16, 2025, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department placed a levy on the property.
The Nicki Minaj lawsuit escalated on Oct. 6, 2025, when Weidenmüller’s attorney filed a motion to force the home’s sale. Minaj and Bank of America were officially served notice of the motion shortly after. The proceeds could satisfy the judgment if approved by the court.

Minaj says she never knew about the case until recently
On Oct. 15, 2025, Minaj addressed the lawsuit publicly via X, formerly Twitter. She claimed a former business manager received the legal notice but failed to inform her. In her post, she expressed frustration and hinted at exposing those responsible.
“I have evidence that this was given to a business [manager] who never told me,” Minaj wrote. “My lawyers AND business [managers] (old & new) are AWARE. Let’s see if they’ll speak up or if I’ll have to call them out by name.” She has not made additional public comments as of October 22, 2025.
Public opinion divided as fans debate online
The Nicki Minaj lawsuit quickly gained traction online, especially after Us Weekly broke the story on Oct. 21. Reactions flooded social media platforms like Reddit, X, and Lipstick Alley. Some users sided with Weidenmüller, citing his injuries and the court’s ruling.
Others defended Minaj, arguing the issue was old news or mismanaged by her former team. Petty’s criminal past, including a 2024 house arrest for threatening Offset, also resurfaced. News accounts and pop culture blogs helped amplify the drama, adding more fuel to the debate.

Weidenmüller insists Minaj can afford to pay the judgment
Weidenmüller’s lawyer, Paul Saso, said Minaj is fully capable of paying the court-ordered amount. With an estimated net worth between $150 and $190 million, she faces mounting pressure to resolve the case. Despite that, no payment has been made, and no formal objection has been filed yet.
Court filings argue California law allows targeting real property directly for judgments. Weidenmüller maintains the home sale is justified and within his legal rights. “This is regrettable,” he said, “but I am entitled to the funds.”
What could happen next in the Nicki Minaj lawsuit
As of October 22, 2025, the court has not ruled on the motion to sell Minaj’s home. If approved, the mansion could be auctioned, with mortgage and exemption fees deducted first. Any leftover equity would go toward paying the $503K judgment.
Minaj could still challenge the motion or pay off the debt to stop the auction. This legal battle may further impact her public image, especially with ongoing scrutiny of Petty’s past. It also raises questions about how celebrities manage legal risks and personal relationships.
