*Wu-Tang Clan’s pursuit of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame recognition has gotten louder, and Method Man is leading the charge.
According to Complex, the rapper hit up Instagram on April 3 to raise concerns about bot activity corrupting the 2026 Rock Hall fan ballot, posting a screenshot of where the nominees currently stand. “Although it’s very cool to be nominated for the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame, what isn’t cool are bots getting involved in the voting,” he wrote. “It’s not fair to the nominees or the legit voters.. with that being said congrats to all the nominees and good luck!”
The comments section quickly filled with fans who shared his skepticism. Much of the conversation zeroed in on Shakira, whose position in the rankings had apparently shifted dramatically in a short period of time. “It is crazy cuz Shakira was way down then automatically jumped up a few dayz ago,” one fan noted, while another offered a pointed “Shakira came outta nowhere…?”

Not every fan was sympathetic to Method Man’s frustration. One commenter reminded him that the public ballot carries limited weight in the overall process. “The fan votes are not the final say anyways,” they wrote. “There’s a comitee [sic] if voters that have the final say. I think the WU are 100% getting in. Don’t start blaming bots, that’s corny.”
We reported earlier that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2026 nominees represent its largest ballot in recent years. A total of 17 nominations, representing 18 artists, are in contention for the upcoming class. Final selections will be announced this month ahead of a fall induction ceremony.
This year’s ballot spans a wide generational range, in line with the Hall’s rule that artists become eligible 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording. Ten performers appear on the ballot for the first time, while seven return after previous nominations. According to Billboard, first-time nominees include P!NK, Lauryn Hill, Jeff Buckley, Wu-Tang Clan, Shakira, Melissa Etheridge, New Edition, Luther Vandross, Phil Collins, and INXS. Collins, already a Hall inductee as part of Genesis, would join the select group of multi-time inductees if chosen for his solo work.
Wu-Tang had accumulated fan 610,083 votes by publication time, landing in eighth place, while New Edition holds the top spot with over a million votes. Under the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s system in place since 2012, the top fan vote counts as only a single ballot, with the independent committee making the final decisions on all other inductions.
