*In-N-Out Burger has retired the number “67” from its ticket order system, following the surge of the viral “6-7” trend that has swept social media among teenagers.
According to PEOPLE, the West Coast burger chain quietly removed the number about a month ago, along with “69,” though the company has not issued an official comment.
The meaning of “6-7” remains ambiguous but is linked to the song “Doot Doot (6 7)” by Skrilla, which repeatedly features the lyric, as well as NBA star LaMelo Ball, who is 6’7”. Dictionary.com named “67” its word of the year. The official definition reads: “While the term is largely nonsensical, some argue it means ‘so-so,’ or ‘maybe this, maybe that,’ especially when paired with a hand gesture where both palms face up and move alternately up and down. Because of its murky and shifting usage, it’s an example of brainrot slang and is intended to be nonsensical and playfully absurd.”

Dictionary Media Group’s director of lexicology, Steve Johnson, told CBS News, “Something that you would have thought would have gone away, it just kept on growing larger and larger, snowballing into kind of like a cultural phenomenon.”
The term is intentionally nonsensical, defined as “a viral, ambiguous slang term that has waffled its way through Gen Alpha social media and school hallways.” TikTok educator Mr. Lindsay, known as the “OG Student Translator,” explained how the trend exploded. He said he first defined “6-7” in February but kept getting questions “daily.”
“It has blown up even more,” he said. The phrase is now used for almost any question, from “How tall are you” to “What time is it,” and he noted, “There’s no real meaning to it. It is a number that is fun to say … with the hand motions, and it just doesn’t mean anything.”
In-N-Out is not alone in responding to the “6-7” trend. Other chains have embraced the phenomenon, with Wendy’s introducing a “67-cent Frosty deal” and Pizza Hut offering “67-cent wings” in November, per PEOPLE.
