*Wondering how things are with “Last Friday?” To hear Mike Epps tell it, the highly anticipated feature is finally on its way in getting off the ground to come to moviegoers.
“[Ice Cube] called me the other day and said we just finished the deal,” the funnyman revealed on The Breakfast Club on March 4. “So, we doin’ the last ‘Friday’ man.”
Epps’ revelation about “Last Friday” came after chatting about his Netflix show “The Upshaws””and giving other comics a shot at stardom, Vibe reports.
Realizing the legendary roster of humor makers “Friday” and its two classic sequels spawned, Epps credited Ice Cube for opening the door to give them a chance to do what they do best for the masses.
“Shoutout to Cube, man. That’s another brother that’s put so many brothers on, man,” the “Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins” ixture said. “Man, this dude put so many— and don’t really get the props for it. Put me, Chris Tucker, Bernie Mac, I mean name ’em,” Epps continued.
Although he confirmed “Last Friday” is on the way, Epps, who co-starred with Cube on “Next Friday” and “Friday After Next,” confessed he hasn’t read the script for the final film in the popular “Friday” film series.
“But I’m pretty sure it’s good,” he quipped before sharing plans for him and Cube to “bring in the new comics” specifically D.C. Young Fly as we.
In addition, Epps mentioned the return of the “OGs.”
However, with the deaths of John Witherspoon, Tommy “Tiny” Lister Jr., AJ Johnson and Bernie Mac, “Last Friday” will be missing some of the people who helped make the “Friday” films some of the funniest around.

Further complicating matters is whether Chris Tucker will be back as Smokey after leaving the “Friday” series after the first “Friday.” Still, Epps believes “we need to get [him].”
“People still love Chris Tucker. He’s still Smokey. He laid it down,” said Epps, who made a direct plea to the “Rush Hour” star. “Chris, if you’re listening, we need you baby boy. Come on back.”
As it stands now, there is time frame on when production on “Last Friday” will start.
Epps confirmation about the movie marks the latest development surrounding “Last Friday.” In January 2024, Katt Williams voiced an “urgency” to get the film made after Witherspoon’s death n 2019.
“We lost some great people before [Friday 4] could come out, regardless. So yes, there desperately needs to be one. But we miss John Witherspoon in a way that can’t really be quantified,” he explained.
