*Diamond Stone is speaking out after boxer Claressa Shields incorrectly identified one of her late mother Angie Stone’s songs, sparking a wave of online attention.
The confusion began when Shields shared a social media video singing along to “No More Rain (In This Cloud).” During the clip, she mistakenly credited the track to Jill Scott instead of Angie Stone, leading to criticism from fans and ultimately from Diamond herself.
Taking to social media, Diamond addressed the error head-on. “I wasn’t going to say nothing, but Claressa, if you gon’ like my mama’s music, don’t ever call her Jill Scott again,” she said in a video response, per The Neighborhood Talk on Instagram. As of now, Shields has not publicly responded or clarified the mix-up.

The exchange comes as Angie Stone’s family continues to navigate life after her sudden death. The acclaimed neo-soul artist passed away on March 1, 2025, at age 63 following a devastating car crash in Montgomery, Alabama while traveling with her band.
In the aftermath, her children, Diamond Stone and Michael Archer II, assumed responsibility for managing her estate. However, the process has been complicated by financial hurdles, including difficulties accessing royalties and publishing income that Stone had previously claimed were owed to her.
These challenges have led to difficult decisions, including listing the family’s Atlanta-area home for $670,000. Without access to expected revenue streams, maintaining the property became unsustainable.
The family is also pursuing legal action related to the crash. A wrongful death lawsuit filed in September 2025 alleges that after the group’s van overturned, an 18-wheeler struck the vehicle at high speed. The suit claims the truck driver was distracted and that safety systems failed, contributing to the fatal outcome.
