*For the first time in the band’s history, The Best of Sade has climbed to No. 1 on Billboard’s Jazz Albums chart, marking a significant milestone for the iconic group.
The greatest hits compilation, originally released in 1994, had been steadily climbing the ranks before finally securing the top spot in its 30th week on the chart, Forbes reports.
While Sade has seen success on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Albums list—where The Best of Sade debuted at No. 1 and has remained for 30 weeks—this marks the group’s first time leading the broader Jazz Albums category.
Previously, only two other Sade albums had appeared on the Jazz Albums chart: Diamond Life, which peaked at No. 4 in 2024, and Promise, which reached No. 19. On the Contemporary Jazz Albums list, however, the group has had stronger performances, with Diamond Life also hitting No. 1 and Promise making it as high as No. 7.
Last year, Sade released the track “Young Lion” which appears on Red Hot Organization’s trans-inclusive compilation EP “Transa: Selects.”
The single, released October 25, is an apology ballad to the singer’s transgender son Izaak Adu, and features lyrics asking her son for forgiveness. Per The Independent, she sings: “Young man, it’s been so heavy for you /You must have felt so alone/ The anguish and pain/ I should’ve known/With such a heavy burden/ You had to carry all on your own/ Forgive me, son/ I should’ve known.”

We reported in 2019 that Izaak Theo Adu turned to social media to document his transition from female to male, thanking his famous mother for her unwavering support throughout the journey.
“It’s been a long hard road but We did it!! We are coming home!!!!” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “Thank you for staying by my side these past 6 months Mumma. Thank you for fighting with me to complete the man I am. Thank you for your encouragement when things are hard, for the love you give me. The purest heart. I love you so much. Queen of queens.”
Izaak first went public with his journey in 2016, when he started taking hormonal shots, saying it was “the first day of the rest of my life.”
Adu, who is Sade’s only child, reacted to his mother’s new song, telling Rolling Stone: “Though there was nothing I needed to forgive her for, the lyrics ‘Forgive me, son, I should have known,’ struck a chord.
“My mum never tried to oppress the boy I silently always knew I was. She always let me be me,” added Adu.
