*“Flight Risk” is an upcoming action thriller film directed by Mel Gibson and starring Mark Wahlberg, Topher Grace, and Michelle Dockery. The movie follows a pilot transporting a fugitive and an Air Marshal through the Alaskan wilderness, where trust is tested.
Per the Lionsgate synopsis: In this high-stakes suspense thriller, Academy Award® nominee Mark Wahlberg plays a pilot transporting an Air Marshal (Michelle Dockery) accompanying a fugitive (Topher Grace) to trial. As they cross the Alaskan wilderness, tensions soar and trust is tested, as not everyone on board is who they seem.

Gibson directs from Jared Rosenberg’s script and produces alongside John Davis, John Fox, and Bruce Davey. Per USA Today, Gibson said: “It’s about Mark letting his dark side out in between running his empire and eating lunch with his kids. He is a multi-dimensional performer who has managed to find the essence of a deranged, bald-headed sociopath.”
The Oscar-winner described the movie as a “tight thriller happening in real-time.” Gibson noted that the film “exploits the viewer’s id through fear of flying.”
In a statement, Wahlberg said: “I loved the chance to play a totally crazy villain again and this movie delivers on every level.”
“Flight Risk” is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on January 24.
