*EURweb had the opportunity to witness Black excellence in full effect at the Lexus Uptown Honors Hollywood ceremony, where icons Blair Underwood, Method Man, Omar J. Dorsey, and J. Alphonse Nicholson received their well-deserved flowers for transforming the entertainment landscape.
The energy was absolutely electric! Black Hollywood showed up for this celebration, bringing style, substance, and soul to an unforgettable evening that had everyone feeling the love and power of community.
The speeches were nothing short of magnificent! From heartfelt reflections to moments of genuine humor, these kings shared words that had the room alternating between snapping fingers in agreement and wiping away tears of joy. When we caught up with the ever-magnetic Underwood, he opened up about roles that moved him throughout his illustrious career.
“You know, it’s hard to say. One of my favorites I would tell you is recently, I did a movie called ‘Long Legs,’ which is a horror film with Nicolas Cage and Micah Monroe. And I love horror films and I’ve only done one.”

Looking impeccable as always, Underwood revealed what drives his creative choices.
“The reason I love playing bad guys is because it’s the mystique, the mystery of what’s behind that character. That’s always interesting to play. You know, I love playing the leading man, the romantic lead, that’s fun, but it’s not as interesting as playing the bad guy.”
Hip-hop royalty and acting powerhouse Method Man spoke passionately about his mentorship of TikTok sensation Jordan The Stallion.
“That is my young bro right there. He’s so ambitious. I want to see him make it so anything I can do, especially for our young, impressionable black youth. You want to give him a leg up anytime you can and pull him up there with you or maybe even mentor them.”
When we asked for gems to pass on to up-and-coming talent, Man didn’t hesitate.

“Take your time, have a vision and stick with it. No matter what people tell you.”
Host extraordinaire Chris Spencer kept it completely real with his advice to those chasing Hollywood dreams.
“If you don’t really, really, really, really, really, really love this, and you’re trying to do it only for the women, or you’re doing it for the money, then go do something else. You really need to love the art. I love the art. I would do it for free.”
The incredibly talented Nicholson had us ready to mark our calendars when he shared what’s next on his journey.
“You know, I’ve been blessed over these last, man, 15 years now, to do so many things. And so for me, I’m getting ready to do a film about a Compton cowboy. And so I get to finally get a chance to work with some horses, which is really cool. I spoke to the universe earlier last year. I said, man, I want to work with some horses. And it happened for me.”

Fan-favorite Dorsey beamed when we asked about the role closest to his heart.
“You know what? It’s probably Hollywood from ‘Queen Sugar.’ It’s just the most iconic, it’s the pinnacle of what a man should be. It’s a person who took care of his woman, took care of his family, took care of his community, took care of his whole city. And I really did love that role a lot.”
When we asked which rising stars in the industry have caught his attention, Dorsey enthusiastically shared his admiration for the next generation.
“Young actors, probably Woody McClane. Love Woody. He basically lives in my house. I love Tone Bell. You know, I love Jay Alphonse. I remember the first day I met Jay, he was doing Broadway with Blair. They were doing ‘Soldier’s Play.’ I love all them young cats, man. You know what I love? I love that they always call me whenever they need any kind of words or any kind of guidance and I and no matter what I’m always there for them.”
The evening wasn’t just about individual recognition—it was a powerful reminder of the magic that happens when Black men in Hollywood support and uplift each other. As attendees departed, the inspiration from these trailblazers who continue breaking barriers while holding the door open for the next generation remained palpable in the air.
