*A$AP Rocky’s felony assault trial is underway, but the jury selection has raised concerns about racial representation.
Despite both Rocky and the alleged victim, A$AP Relli, being Black Americans, the jury consists entirely of non-Black individuals, with 7 women and 5 men, and no Black jurors, TMZ reports. The trial, overseen by a white judge, is set to begin after Rocky rejected a plea deal offering a reduced jail sentence.
We reported earlier that the Harlem rapper, known for his relationship with Rihanna, is grappling with serious allegations that include two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. The charges are linked to an incident involving former friend and fellow A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli, whose real name is Terrell Ephron. Rocky, whose birth name is Rakim Mayers, has remained steadfast in his assertion of innocence.
The case has garnered considerable public attention and is expected to be closely monitored during the proceedings. Superior Court Judge Mark S. Arnold has allowed video cameras in the courtroom, highlighting the importance of transparency in the judicial process.
The trial, initially scheduled for early 2024, was delayed until November but was later pushed back to early 2025 after further requests from A$AP Rocky’s legal team.

According to TMZ, prosecutors offered the hip-hop star a plea deal with a 180-day county jail sentence, though he would likely serve a shorter time due to overcrowding. However, Rocky rejected the offer and now faces up to 24 years in state prison if convicted.
Meanwhile, rumor has it that Rihanna is allegedly trying to write a check big enough that a witness will refuse to testify at her baby daddy’s upcoming trial.
