*They may not have much in common outside of being iconic families in the entertainment industry, but according to Damon Wayans, him falling in love with his nephew’s ex-girlfriend mirrors a similar situation that happened to members of a certain musical family/dynasty.
Citing a recent appearance on “Club Shay Shay, the Daily Beast reports the 64-year-old “Poppa’s House” star came clean to the podcast’s host Shannon Sharpe, admitting he is in love with with his nephew’s ex-girlfriend, joking how it was a page out of the Jacksons playbook.
“This can’t be true… that you dated the same woman that your nephew was?” Sharpe asked Wayans.
“I was in love with her, that’s the thing,” the funnyman responded, before making his Jackson family parallel.
“You ain’t never done the Jackson 5?” Wayans referenced, with flashing back to when Jermaine Jackson married his brother Randy Jackson’s ex-girlfriend, Alejandra Oaziaza, the Beast noted

That’s off limits, Damon,” a visibly surprised Sharpe responded.
“No, but it wasn’t like they were in love,” Wayans said, recalling the eyebrow raising situation.
As for his own circumstance, Wayans made it known that he fell in love with his nephew’s former flame in 2001. After divorcing his wife Lisa Thorner, the comedy icon added that his relationship with the ex took off.
“I got divorced and I was by myself for two years,” Wayans explained. “And then I saw her [his nephew’s ex] and I was just like, ‘Oh my God. I’m in love.’ And then I found out my nephew had dated [her].”
Despite strong feelings for the woman, Wayans claimed he spoke to his nephew first before starting up anything with his relative’s ex.
Enter the awkward moment whenever the trio’s paths cross.
“Family gatherings is awkward,” Wayans admitted.
