*Conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the prominent founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on September 10 during a speech at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, where he was allegedly addressing Black-on-Black crime, a frequent topic of his commentary.
Videos circulating online showed Kirk, 31, seated under a pavilion, recoiling as blood poured from his neck, with the crowd scattering in panic. President Donald Trump confirmed Kirk’s death on Truth Social, writing, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
The attack occurred around 12:20 p.m. local time, with a single shot fired from approximately 200 yards away. An eyewitness said the alleged shooter yelled, “I’d do it again.” Initial reports suggested the suspect, a white male, was in custody, but officials have clarified that the shooter remains at large.

Utah Valley University spokesperson Scott Trotter issued a statement: “On September 10, 2025, at 12:20 a single shot rang out in the quad near the food court on the Utah Valley University Orem Campus as Mr. Charlie Kirk began speaking at his planned rally. We can confirm that Mr. Kirk was shot, but we don’t know his condition. The suspect is not in custody. Police are still investigating Campus is closed for the rest of the day.”
Vice President JD Vance had earlier urged prayers, stating, “Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father.” FBI Director Kash Patel noted, “We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected. Agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation.”
Kirk, recognized for controversial X posts like ‘Black attacks on white people,’ was shot in the neck and rushed to a hospital, initially reported in critical condition. Trump expressed immediate support, writing on his social media platform, “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!”

Republican leaders condemned the shooting, with House Speaker Mike Johnson writing on X, “Please join us in praying for our good friend, Charlie Kirk,” while Senator Lindsey Graham described it as “a sick and despicable attack,” adding, “I am praying for Charlie Kirk and his family. Please join me.”
Democrats echoed the call to reject political violence. Former Vice President Kamala Harris stated, “I am deeply disturbed by the shooting in Utah. Doug and I send our prayers to Charlie Kirk and his family. Let me be clear: Political violence has no place in America. I condemn this act, and we all must work together to ensure this does not lead to more violence.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom called the attack on Kirk “disgusting, vile, and reprehensible.”
