*Local authorities in Philadelphia are currently investigating a rogue marketing campaign involving counterfeit political advertisements promoting Vice President Kamala Harris as the endorsed presidential candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The ads appeared across the city, particularly at bus stops owned by Intersection Media, raising questions about the legality and impact of such deceptive promotions.
The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office is taking the matter seriously as they work to uncover more information regarding the identity of those responsible for the ads. In a statement to TMZ Sports, officials confirmed that they are actively investigating the situation to ensure accountability.
The controversial advertisements featured an image of Harris sporting an Eagles helmet and holding a football, undoubtedly aiming to capture the attention of both sports fans and political enthusiasts alike. However, the Philadelphia Eagles organization has publicly denounced the ads as “counterfeit political ads,” stressing that they have not endorsed any presidential candidates, including Harris. The team has pledged to collaborate with city officials to have the misleading posters removed swiftly.

Intersection Media, the company responsible for the bus stop advertising space, issued a statement acknowledging that several of their shelters had been vandalized. The company clarified that while their bus shelters are secured with locks designed to prevent unauthorized installations, determined individuals sometimes find ways to bypass these measures. They assured the public that they are taking steps to rectify the situation.
Interestingly, while the advertisements were fraudulent, they included a legitimate URL directing viewers to voting resources in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This raised eyebrows, as the link did not reference Harris or other political figures, suggesting a potential ulterior motive behind the placement of these ads.
Authorities have indicated that the source of these unauthorized posters remains uncertain. However, they confirmed that the issue is not related to a digital breach since the posters were placed physically at various locations across the city. Efforts are underway to have all counterfeit posters removed by Tuesday morning, as Election Day in November approaches, with Pennsylvania being a key battleground state.
As the investigation continues, the ramifications of these deceptive ads could influence public perception in an election year where every vote counts.
