*O.J. Simpson has passed away after battling cancer, his family confirmed on Wednesday.
“On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer,” the family wrote on X on Thursday.
Simpson, known for his infamous ’90s murder trial, passed away in Las Vegas, New York Post reports.
“He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace,” the statement added.
We reported in February that the former football star was diagnosed with prostate cancer and undergoing chemotherapy in Las Vegas.
On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.
He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Despite rumors of being in hospice care, Simpson clarified on X (Twitter) that he was not in such a situation.
Simpson also posted a video clip that showed him laughing about the situation. He said he laughed because the reports of him being frail and in hospice care were not accurate. Watch the clip below.
