*Michelle Obama came to Simone Biles‘ defense after Biles and her teammate, Jordan Chiles, knelt to honor Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade on the Olympic podium in Paris.
“I’m still not over this beautiful moment of sisterhood and sportsmanship!” Obama said on social media, TMZ reports. “You can just feel the love shining through these ladies. Congrats Rebeca, Jordan and Simone!”
NFL player Marlon Humphrey criticized the gesture, calling it “disgusting.” One X user responded, “Yeah, because giving someone their flowers who has come back from THREE ACL tears to continue to be a top gymnast is disgusting.”
Another person wrote in the post’s comments, “Who are you? Even in your sport, people don’t know who you are, and you want to judge three of the greatest in the world in their sport? You don’t know the “Olympic Spirit” because you have never been there and never will be. So shhhhh!”

Humphrey later admitted, “I’m lowkey getting cooked right now” over his comments about Biles.
Meanwhile, Biles defended her actions on “TODAY” Tuesday morning, explaining that she was showing support for Andrade, who had delivered the best performance of the event.
“She had the best floor routine of that day — of the Olympics,” Biles said. “So it’s like, yeah, she deserved it.”
