L.A. Man Arrested After Killing Ex-Girlfriend’s Puppy

*After a two-week manhunt, a Los Angeles man has been arrested for shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend’s puppy.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed in a press release that David Sumlin, 32, was arrested Monday. Sumlin allegedly had a heated argument with his ex on Jan. 2 and threatened to shoot her or the dog, People reports.

“Sumlin held a pillow over the victim’s dog and pointed a firearm into the pillow. Sumlin then stated, ‘It’s either you or the dog,’” the LAPD said.

Sumlin shot “two rounds into the pillow, striking the 4-month-old puppy,” police said. After being transported to an animal shelter, the pet died. It remains unclear what breed of dog it was.
